1. Purpose

These terms govern access to and use of the ArtCatal website and service, including features available to registered users (catalogues, artworks, virtual exhibitions and any other tools offered at any given time).

2. Free registration and use

User registration and use of the service under the default plan (BASIC subscription) are free of charge: there is no fee for creating an account or using the features included in that plan, within the technical and capacity limits described below and in the application itself.

ArtCatal may offer other subscription plans or paid options in the future; in that case their terms will be clearly explained before you subscribe.

3. BASIC subscription and limits

The BASIC subscription is the default when you register. It includes limits on service resources (number of catalogues, artworks, exhibitions, rooms, walls or sections, and storage space for files such as images). These limits may be adjusted by the service owner in the platform configuration; the values in force at any time can also be checked in your private area when you sign in.

Under the current system configuration for the BASIC subscription, the limits are:

  • Catalogues (maximum): 2 catalogues.
  • Artworks (total maximum): 100 artworks.
  • Virtual exhibitions (maximum): 2 exhibitions.
  • Rooms per exhibition (maximum): 4 rooms per exhibition.
  • Walls or sections per exhibition (maximum): 25 walls or sections per exhibition.
  • Storage space (images and other uploaded files): up to 200 MB in total for your account.

If you exceed a limit, the service may prevent creating further resources until you free space or your subscription changes; in-app messages will indicate the reason when this happens.

4. Catalogues in the public area

Even if you mark a catalogue as public, it will not appear in the public area of the site (open listings, public search, sitemap and views accessible without signing in) until that catalogue has at least 5 active artworks, counting both works created in the catalogue itself and those added through the sharing mechanism provided by the service, provided the works are active and not deleted. The applicable threshold is stated in these terms and is enforced automatically by the platform.

5. Responsible use and purpose of the service

You agree to use ArtCatal responsibly and not to abuse the services offered (including storage, content generation, automated queries or any use that harms other users’ experience or unjustifiably overloads the platform).

The platform is intended for its legitimate purpose: helping artists, creators and collectors to catalogue, organise and share their works and collections in an orderly way. You must use the site in line with that purpose and in good faith, and not for unlawful, fraudulent or clearly unreasonable purposes.

6. Breach and measures

Breach of these terms of use, applicable law or any internal rules communicated by ArtCatal through the appropriate channel may result, depending on severity and circumstances, in proportionate measures, including:

  • limiting certain features or quotas temporarily or permanently;
  • suspending or blocking access to the account;
  • deleting the account and associated content, where appropriate.

ArtCatal reserves the right to take any legal action appropriate for conduct that breaches these terms, third-party rights or applicable law, without prejudice to cooperation with authorities where legally required.

7. Content published by users

ArtCatal is not responsible for the content, accuracy, lawfulness or quality of materials, text, images, data or other information that each user publishes, stores or shares through the service. You are solely responsible for what you add to the platform.

By publishing any material or information (works, photographs, descriptions, links, metadata, etc.), you represent and warrant that you have the legally required rights and authorisations to do so—including, without limitation, intellectual property rights, image rights and any other applicable rights—and that you do not infringe third-party rights.

If you breach the above, you may be liable to third parties and to ArtCatal, without prejudice to the measures described in the section on breach.

8. Changes

The owner of ArtCatal may update these terms or the service limits when necessary. You are advised to review substantial changes on this page; the “last updated” date will be revised when appropriate.
